Menu Management

I. PURPOSE

When the POS software is first deployed, restaurant managers need to set up the list of food and beverage items sold by the restaurant. This menu is used for order taking, billing, and daily operations.


II. INSTRUCTION STEPS

During daily operations, if the menu changes, managers can update the menu by following the instructions below:

Helps organize food and beverage items into clear categories, making it easier for staff to find items and recommend them to customers when taking orders.

Import menu from an Excel file

Allows restaurants to quickly create a menu by importing an existing Excel file. Commonly used when first setting up the system and the menu already exists in Excel format.

Create menu from the built-in library

Helps restaurants quickly create a menu using predefined items available in the system. Typically used for new restaurants during initial setup.

Add regular items

Allows restaurants to add new food or beverage items to the menu.

Add items with variants

Enables fast menu setup, especially for items with different sizes or options.

Add combo items

Allows restaurants to create combo meals or set menus.

Add serving preference groups

Creating serving preference groups helps staff save time when selecting customer preferences.

Add serving preferences to menu items

Allows staff to quickly apply customer preferences when taking orders.

Arrange menu order

Allows managers to customize the display order of menu items. This order remains consistent so staff can quickly find items during order entry.


III. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. What happens if menu categories are not set up?
No issue. The item will automatically be placed in the Uncategorized group during sales.

2. Can menu categories be reordered?
Yes. Managers can use the Up / Down buttons to rearrange the display order.

3. Can menu items be added, edited, or deleted after sales have started?
Yes, as long as the user has the appropriate permissions assigned in Role Management.

4. Which item types can be imported from Excel?
Items with variants are currently not supported for Excel import.

5. Can serving preferences be required?
Yes. Restaurants can mark serving preferences as required.
